Residential Mental Health and Substance Abuse

30 Day Intensive Therapeutic Intervention (I.T.I.) The first program of its kind in the Phoenix metropolitan area offered by a non-profit organization, this 30 day residential substance abuse intervention serves adolescents, ages 11-17, with drug and alcohol problems. This comprehensive program includes individual, group and family counseling with Master Level therapists to identify destructive behavior patterns, understand personal triggers and prevent relapse. This program utilizes 12 Step Programming, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Recovery Model, as well as meditation, life skills training, and physical activity. Upon completion, participants may continue to receive treatment on an intensive outpatient, outpatient or in-home basis. To learn more about the I.T.I. Program download the brochure.

30 Day Intensive Stabilization Intervention (I.S.I) In 30 days, we aim to give youth the skills to stabilize their behavioral concerns by helping them develop and utilize coping skills to maintain positive behaviors and recovery in their mental health struggles. The ISI Program offers a unique intervention experience for adolescents who are struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. Applying TNF’s strengths-based guiding principles, we utilize evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). To learn more about the I.S.I Program download the information sheet.

Level One Residential Treatment effectively serves youth with moderate to severe behavioral health issues. These may include substance abuse, addiction, mood disorder, affective disorders, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment issues, anger management, and any other behavioral health issue causing significant conflict in the youth's daily functioning. All Level One clients attend the Marion Burton School on campus.

Therapeutic Group Home—Level Two Residential Treatment serves youth who are not an immediate risk to themselves or others, and can demonstrate greater independence and responsibility within the program. Youths in the program may obtain part time employment, and off grounds schooling if they continue to maintain appropriate behavior and meet behavioral goals. All Level Two clients attend the Marion Burton School on campus.

Safe Time Out Program (S.T.O.P) This vital three to five day voluntary residential program provides youth with a safe haven in which to address family crisis. Both the youth and family must agree to participate. The program offers supervision, therapeutic counseling by a Master Level clinician, as well as further treatment recommendations. Families are asked to arrange for school materials for the duration of their child's stay. Youth who pose an immediate risk to themselves or others are not eligible.

Diversion Domestic Violence This 30 day residential program provides intensive individual and family therapy to address family violence and its core contributing factors. Referrals are exclusively the clients of the Maricopa County Juvenile Court. Eligible youth will have received one or more domestic violence referrals. This program may also be utilized by the Maricopa Juvenile Court as a detention alternative program.

Respite Program serves youth and their family who urgently need a temporary time apart. All clients are assessed for program appropriateness. Respite services are provided on site or in the home. Clients involved with a Comprehensive Service Provider (Regional Behavioral Health Authority or Tribal Authority) are eligible.

The Marion Burton School, located on campus, is fully accredited by the North Central Association. The school teaches youth with both regular and special educational needs. Individualized Education Plans (I.E.P.) are reviewed to ensure we are able to accommodate each child’s special needs. Students attend the Marion Burton School, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 2:30pm. We serve our Level One and Level Two students, as well as day students from various Maricopa County School Districts.
